Helping people and organizations discern and live out their call
How We Work
About four weeks prior to your scheduled time with us, you will receive some materials designed to help you focus on the task ahead and help us get to know you.
You will need to spend two days with us. Typically we ask you to arrive the night before the first day so we can have time to talk before we start to work.
We begin seeking perspective and insight. We finish helping you put together a concrete plan for what is next. In between we listen and explore in a climate of trust and confidentiality that seeks to draw out our collective insights, wisdom, and unique perspectives.
Note: When couples undertake this journey together the process takes three days.
Where are these sessions held? Normally we offer them in the relaxing setting of our home in Southern Maryland about 25 miles south of Washington, DC. When it is not available, we use a nearby retreat center. We have also held these sessions in other locations when that works best for everyone.
What Does It Cost? Developing a course for your life is the most important investment you will ever make. We also recognize that people seeking their calling and a path toward it do not all have the same resources available when they need our help most. Our goal is not allow cost to be a barrier. We will work out those details once you decide we can help.
If we are using our home, you are welcome to stay with us and meals are included. If we are using the retreat center, we will most likely be staying and eating there. If you desire, there are also several hotels close by that offer accomodations to meet most budgets. Lodging at the retreat center or a hotel would be an additional cost. If you travel by train, bus, or air we will be happy to pick you up and return you to the terminal or another location if you require it.
"I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have two gifted and wise individuals focus on my life for two days. The Zimmers bring a unique combination of experience and skills, as well as a gift for hospitality. Their ability to make use of a variety of tools and exercises to fit the needs of different people is invaluable. My time with them resulted in some critical discoveries as well as affirmation of some decisions I was already on the way to making. Unquestionably the life planning experience will have a powerful impact on my life in the years ahead." (N.P.)
“People should not consider so much what they are to do, as what they are.”
